The founding story

Lanes & Planes founders Veit Blumschein and Daniel Nolte first met during their university days at RWTH Aachen. Back in 2008, they co-founded “From A to B”—a multimodal travel search engine covering Germany and Europe that was later acquired by the Tank & Rast Group. Drawing on this deep industry experience, Veit and Daniel set out to build a solution that unifies the entire corporate travel lifecycle: managing everything before, during, and after a business trip on a single platform. This vision came to life in 2017 with the launch of Lanes & Planes.

In 2023, a $35 million Series B funding round—backed by Smash Capital, Battery Ventures, and Coparion—laid the strategic foundation for our continued expansion. This was followed in spring 2026 by an additional double-digit million growth capital injection from BBVA to further fuel our trajectory.

Today, we are the market leader in the DACH region, offering our clients the largest business travel inventory in Europe. More than 1,500 companies trust Lanes & Planes as their central platform for corporate travel management, serving over 270,000 users since our launch. Our team has grown to more than 250 employees, collaborating seamlessly from our Munich headquarters and various remote locations.
